bocs is officially open!

5 December 2008

Wow, we’ve finally launched, and the christmas bocs nadolig private view went well, if a little bit hectic at the last moment….

We had a really strong show with work by some really interesting artists, all chosen by members of bocs.

We even had a couple of pieces produced by bocs members and of course, we also had our bocs boxes. This is the Super Secret Souvenir I mentioned earlier, over 100 miniature bocs boxes that have been customised by one of our members, our Christmas gift for you to take away.

Bedwyr Williams was kind enough to open the exhibition for us with an inspiring speech, whilst Ioan Thomas launched our bocs co-operative with a pop of the champagne cork.

Meirion Alan Ginsberg’s work goes on bocs

1 December 2008

One of our members, Meirion Ginsberg has uploaded a couple of pictures of his work on his bocs profile. Meirion’s work is largely autobiographical and injected with humour, borderline figurative and abstract it is influenced by a huge range of painters from Willem DeKooning to Rembrandt.

Some pretty interesting stuff, so click here to pop along and have a look.

If you’re interested in seeing more from Meirion, he’s got his own site filled with loads of images.

Robert has exhibited numerous digital installations including at Ars Electronica, Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art, the ICA, the Barbican Gallery and the Millennium Dome.

Currently Reader in Fine Art and Head of Fine Art at Cardiff School of Art & Design, he has spoken and lectured on philosophy, new technology and the relationship between art and consciousness.

“The reason I chose Robert Pepperell Is because I’ve been an admirer of his work for a while, but still haven’t seen his work. I thought this would be a good opportunity to make the most of this event so I can see the work in the flesh.”

Robert Pepperell is Meirion Alan Ginsberg’s choice for the christmas bocs nadolig exhibition.

You are all cordially invited…

29 November 2008

… to the launch of bocs, and of course, for our Christmas bash/exhibition.

Feel free to print out one of these invites and bring them along to our private view. (Right-click the image and click “Save target as”.) Although you’d probably still get in even if you didn’t have one.
