Wow, we’ve finally launched, and the christmas bocs nadolig private view went well, if a little bit hectic at the last moment….

We had a really strong show with work by some really interesting artists, all chosen by members of bocs.
Exhibiting Artists
- Alexis Snell, chosen by Charlie Yorke
- Catherine Howell, chosen by James Toms
- Dyfrig Peris, chosen by Iestyn Owen
- Elgan Jones, chosen by Huw Erddyn
- Mick Brown, chosen by Gethin Wavell Lloyd Jones
- Naomi Lethbridge, chosen by Siân Green
- Paul Johnson, chosen by Yvonne Tsang
- Poked Studio, chosen by Sally Kwong
- Robert Pepperell, chosen by Meirion Alan Ginsberg
- Rosie Seymore, chosen by Sevan Garo Nigogosian
- Simeon Coxe, chosen by Rhys Lloyd Jones
- Stephen John Owen, chosen by Dafydd Hardy
We even had a couple of pieces produced by bocs members and of course, we also had our bocs boxes. This is the Super Secret Souvenir I mentioned earlier, over 100 miniature bocs boxes that have been customised by one of our members, our Christmas gift for you to take away.
Bedwyr Williams was kind enough to open the exhibition for us with an inspiring speech, whilst Ioan Thomas launched our bocs co-operative with a pop of the champagne cork.

Visually, Naomi’s work appeals to me due to its use of multiples and repetition. I am also drawn to her choice of materials, such as cardboard, and use of bright colours. Naomi often incorporates recognizable objects and images which, when altered in some way, can result in a shift in meaning.
Ideas and methods of collecting and ordering are apparent in the work, almost like a visual taxonomy, attesting Naomi’s efforts to find ’something permanent’ and ‘absorb’ her surroundings. Her work is sharp and witty, often with a dark humour, combining references from anthropology and history with (those from) popular culture and the kitsch.
I find her work exciting and look forward to see where it may take her in the future.
Naomi Lethbridge is Siân Green’s choice for the christmas bocs nadolig exhibition.
