Bocs has been invited to stage the “graffitti box” project, which was conjured up for the official opening of Castle Square in Caernarfon, at the opening of the National Eisteddfod in Y Bala on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd August.
Most people visiting Caernarfon last week would have seen dozens of children enjoying painting and drawing alongside the artists on our huge 6ft white box. The theme in Y Bala will be “Gwynedd on the Box” and, after the artists have completed their artwork, visitors to the Gwynedd Pavilion will be invited to add their own touches to the box.
There will also be a video displaying of the current work on show now in Oriel Dafydd Hardy until August and other Bocs artwork and events.

We even had a couple of pieces produced by bocs members and of course, we also had our bocs boxes. This is the Super Secret Souvenir I mentioned earlier, over 100 miniature bocs boxes that have been customised by one of our members, our Christmas gift for you to take away.
Bedwyr Williams was kind enough to open the exhibition for us with an inspiring speech, whilst Ioan Thomas launched our bocs co-operative with a pop of the champagne cork.

Feel free to print out one of these invites and bring them along to our private view. (Right-click the image and click “Save target as”.) Although you’d probably still get in even if you didn’t have one.

Dyfrig Peris is a local born artist from Penygroes who studied Fine Art in Cheltenham University after completing his Art Foundation in Bangor, he has recently started a screen-printing company based in Nantlle and will be collaborating with local artists to create limited edition screen prints.
His work is influenced by Japanese animation and comic style storytelling and has done a series of drawings where imaginary landscapes are populated by amorphous characters. This is one of the reasons I selected him as my artist of choice, as my work involves creating complex landscapes dealing with perspective, space and depth, be it with ink on paper or with paint. Also I believe it to be beneficial to our group that we get as many local artists involved, as they’ll have extra desire and determination in making this a success.
Dyfrig Peris is Iestyn Owen’s choice for the christmas bocs nadolig exhibition.
