Starting this Sunday - 19th July 2009 - Bocs members exhibiting in Oriel Dafydd Hardy and working outside with the public on the Castle Square in Caernarfon, Gwynedd.
Bocs ar y Sgwar / Bocs on the square
Come along to Caernarfon from noon onwards to celebrate the official opening of the new town square….join Bocs members drawing, spraying, painting on a six foot white box …..everything is being filmed and relayed inside our gallery Oriel Dafydd Hardy.
Then join us for a glass of wine and a further feast of art at the opening of our new exhibition “Bocs ar y Sgwâr.” / “Bocs on the Square”.
Yup, those lovely people at Google have done it again. Art lovers the world over can now stroll through and view The Prado collection online or rather, “14 of the most important works in the museum” including masterpieces by Bosch, Francisco de Goya, Diego Velázquez, Peter Paul Rubens and Rembrandt.
The Prado in Google splash page gives you the option of viewing it in Google Earth, or in Google Maps. (You will need to click “Save to my maps”) These will let you view the pieces in ultra high resolution, meaning that you get to zoom right in and see all the fine details, bringing you far closer than it would be possible with the originals. Some of the pieces are 3 metres high and art galleries are not in the habit of providing ladders.

Although this was certainly not our first exhibition, this was the first one where we collated work from bocs members.
Hugh Edwin Jones, (Creative Enterprises Officer from Gwynedd Council) was kind enough to open the show for us with some inspirational words.
We had a strong show, curated by bocs member Sevan Garo Nigogosian, that exemplifies the diversity of styles, talents and interests of some of bocs’ members:
Sevan Garo Nigogosian

O’r Antelope i’r Anglesey 2/From the Antelope to the Anglesey2 - £200

O’r Antelope i’r Anglesey 4/From the Antelope to the Anglesey4 - £200
After our constructive weekly meeting (in the pub) our very own David Bailey, Huw Erddyn stormed the bastille of the Jones family home to create the bocs’ very own blow-up featuring the photogenic Sally and the not-so-photogenic Rhys. To hide his hideous appearance, Rhys decided to dazzle the audience with his barrage of electronic junk and miscellaneous instruments.
