Visually, Naomi’s work appeals to me due to its use of multiples and repetition. I am also drawn to her choice of materials, such as cardboard, and use of bright colours. Naomi often incorporates recognizable objects and images which, when altered in some way, can result in a shift in meaning.
Ideas and methods of collecting and ordering are apparent in the work, almost like a visual taxonomy, attesting Naomi’s efforts to find ’something permanent’ and ‘absorb’ her surroundings. Her work is sharp and witty, often with a dark humour, combining references from anthropology and history with (those from) popular culture and the kitsch.
I find her work exciting and look forward to see where it may take her in the future.

“The reason I chose Robert Pepperell Is because I’ve been an admirer of his work for a while, but still haven’t seen his work. I thought this would be a good opportunity to make the most of this event so I can see the work in the flesh.”
Dyfrig Peris is a local born artist from Penygroes who studied Fine Art in Cheltenham University after completing his Art Foundation in Bangor, he has recently started a screen-printing company based in Nantlle and will be collaborating with local artists to create limited edition screen prints.
His work is influenced by Japanese animation and comic style storytelling and has done a series of drawings where imaginary landscapes are populated by amorphous characters. This is one of the reasons I selected him as my artist of choice, as my work involves creating complex landscapes dealing with perspective, space and depth, be it with ink on paper or with paint. Also I believe it to be beneficial to our group that we get as many local artists involved, as they’ll have extra desire and determination in making this a success.
From the Wilds of Eastern Tennessee and nurtured in the Big Easy, comes Simeon Coxe the Third. An innovator of Electronic Music and avant garde performance art . His two releases on the Kapp label under the guise of Silver Apples utilized a maelstrom of home made electronic gadgetry, was heralded by the New York Post as “Simple weird magic. Not to mention the musical output being a prime example of Performance art and Pop music effortlessly merging together.
Although it may be the Velvet Underground or Elephant Memory that were given the task of entertaining New York’s creative elite in the Factory, Simeon collabortaed with the purveyor of Pop Art in his hey day.
