Gethin Wavell “Bad Wart False Teeth 2″ (Adventures in the shed)

12 October 2010

Exhibition by Gethin Wavell at Oriel Dafydd Hardy, Caernarfon. Private View : Wednesday 3rd November (7-9pm)
Then open to public 4th - 26th November 2010

Opening hours: Monday - Friday 10 am – 4pm (Saturday 10am -1pm)

I graduated from Cardiff UWIC in 2007, where I studied fine art. The work that’s on show is work that I have produced in the last two years. I enjoy looking at a wide range of artists, from Guston to Goya. I also have a fondness for literature and films. I see my work as the final image of encounters and reactions that I’ve had, or am ever going to have. Therefore, I rely heavily on my imagination, and memories. With these tools I’m able to construct a piece of work that is highly personel and corresponds to what I surround myself with.

bocs is officially open!

5 December 2008

Wow, we’ve finally launched, and the christmas bocs nadolig private view went well, if a little bit hectic at the last moment….

We had a really strong show with work by some really interesting artists, all chosen by members of bocs.

Exhibiting Artists

We even had a couple of pieces produced by bocs members and of course, we also had our bocs boxes. This is the Super Secret Souvenir I mentioned earlier, over 100 miniature bocs boxes that have been customised by one of our members, our Christmas gift for you to take away.

Bedwyr Williams was kind enough to open the exhibition for us with an inspiring speech, whilst Ioan Thomas launched our bocs co-operative with a pop of the champagne cork.

Dafydd’s Choice - Stephen John Owen

30 November 2008

Our patron, Dafydd Hardy also has a choice for this year’s christmas bocs nadolig exhibition. He has chosen Stephen John Owen, native of Caernarfon.

“I like his style which appears to my untrained eye to be semi abstract and he is also local. I have never met him but look forward to meeting him one day.”

Both Oriel Dafydd Hardy and bocs are grateful to Dafydd Hardy and Richard Thomas for giving us the opportunity to display and develop our work collectively. So we decided that letting them have a choice of artist at our launch was the least we could do.

Stephen John Owen is Dafydd Hardy’s choice for the christmas bocs nadolig exhibition.
